The Economy Shop - an Oak Park icon

It’s 10 minutes before 9 a.m. and two dozen people in winter coats pack the foyer at 103 S. Grove Avenue in Oak Park. Another two dozen wait outside in the chilly 30-degree weather.

They’re all waiting for the opening of the Economy Shop, a sprawling Victorian style house that has been reselling clothes, household goods, décor and other merchandise near downtown Oak Park for more than 90 years.
